WalletTip: Live a life of luxury with lastminute.com's Top Secret Hotels

Filed under: Travel, WalletTip, Cheap Treats, Freebies and Bargains

I'm writing this in a swanky hotel wrapped up in a fluffy bath robe. Drinking a cup of tea and pondering what goodies to order from room service. I'm a world away from home and it's fabulous. Except, I'm not miles away from home. I'm a few train stops away. I'm staying in a swanky hotel for next to nothing, all because of lastminute.com's Top Secret Hotel deals.Every now and again, lastminute.com throw a few really great deals into cyberspace. Top Secret Hotels are just that: Top secret. Until you've booked and then they'll tell you where to go (otherwise there wouldn't be very much point, would there)? But they don't want people to know that they're selling off their rooms so cheaply, so you get to make a saving. A very good one.

I paid just £10 for my room in a four star hotel. No booking fee, no added extras. And it's a lovely hotel. The lastminute.com email alert is one that I really suggest signing up for, so you find out about these deals before they go live on the site - in around ten minutes all of the rooms in a variety of hotels had sold out so you have to move quickly. There are hotels all over the country and abroad if you're lucky. Occasionally you'll be able to bag top secret flights as well, so you could get yourself an upgrade on a standard flight. Brilliant.

If you think even £10 is too much, then what about the Hoxton Hotel's £1 room sale? If you're lucky you could snap up a real bargain. Just sign up for their newsletter and you'll find out about the best deals before everybody else.

Now, time for room service...
