Brides getting a boob job for their big day
Filed under: Weird and Wonderful, Weddings
I love a good wedding. But they're not cheap, are they? I've written about saving money on your big day and asked all of you brides-to-be if you'd buy your wedding dress on eBay. And you're a thrifty little lot! You've come up with some great money saving tips. There's no doubt about it, if you want to save money, getting married isn't the best way to do it. Especially not if you're going to get your boobs done before the big day. There's been a rise in women getting their boobs done before they walk down the aisle according to a story in The Daily Mail. And this has shocked me somewhat. Not because there's anything wrong with getting a bit of a boost, but I thought everyone was going for the 'credit crunch' wedding? It's difficult to do that if you're forking out £4000 for some new boobs.
The average price of as wedding is apparently £20,000. Add in the price of a breast enlargement and that's quite a hefty increase. And I thought everyone was trying to cut costs, not go under the knife. But there's been a 60% rise in brides wanting to undergo surgery before the big day.
So this has got me thinking, what are these women cutting back on to afford their perfect body image? I'm pretty certain that the wedding industry isn't suddenly booming, and high street dresses are falling into favour over one-off expensive creations. If the discussion on WalletPop yesterday is anything to go buy, you're all buying your dresses on eBay, so saving money is certainly still key.
I wouldn't pay £4000 for a boob job at any time of my life, let alone with the stress leading up to a wedding, but what about you girls? Is it something you'd fork out for? And if you did, what would you cut back on to make your big day more affordable?
