Save money and the planet at the same time with Bags of Change

Bags of Change is a wonderful little initiative. If there's a way to make being green more appealing it's to offer someone a way of saving money. And that's not something that's done very easily, most green ideas are more expensive (and rightly so). But Bags of Change have worked out a clever way to help you look good, while being green AND saving money. Sound too good to be true?
To get involved with BOC, first you have to get yourself a bag! The on in the picture is only £14.99, but they've got a lot of different styles. All from sustainable materials. You can buy them online, or you can buy them from one of the Bags of Change shops.

And what are they? Well they're the shops that have signed up to the scheme to save you money. Every time you pop into the shop with your bag, you'll get a discount. The discounts vary between shops, but it's usually between 10 and 20%. Pretty impressive! And well worth you paying the extra for what's actually a pretty nice bag.

And the shops? Everything from organic fruit and veg, to pretty little jewellers and arty stores. Places that should really be supported, and they're fun to shop in. Granted, you might not shop in them all the time, but you might be more tempted to try new places if you know you're going to get a discount.

I'm so impressed with this initiative. Most of the shops on board are small independent ones and the more we shop with them, the better. The fact that someone has not only made being green cool, but they've found a way of saving money at the same time is very commendable. I'm off to order my bag now!
