Which internet dating site is best value?

Everyone I know seems to be internet dating at the moment. We're getting busier, spending more time working and less time bar-hopping. So what's the options, shelling out a bit of cash and doing some e-flirting. Sounds pretty good to me, even if it feels a little bit like picking what you want from a takeaway menu.

But there are a lot of dating sites out there. How do you know which one is going to give you value for money?
The Guardian Soulmates

The Guardian's dating site seems very popular indeed. Mainly with creatives and people in media, so if that's your thing, the site will set you back £24.95 a month. You get cheaper options if you go for longer subscriptions, but if you just want to try out the site, maybe just do it for one month first.

My Single Friend

My Single Friend is different from most dating sites as you get your friend to write your profile for you. Don't worry! You get to see it first! If you're not sure what to write, this might work for you. It's £18 for one month.

Match.com

Match.com is the most traditional of dating sites. It feels like it's been around forever. So what are you getting for your money? A huge pool of people to contact for a start! This site will be really good if you're not sure what it is you're looking for. Unfortunately, they're very cagey about how much it costs until you sign up. But, they do offer six months free if you don't find love in your first six months. Although I'm not sure I'd sign up for something without knowing how much it was going to cost me first.

These are the three most popular sites at the moment, but there's heaps more out there. You can even date through Facebook if you feel like it! Let us know if you've tried any of these and tell us what you think!
