Hollywood's highest-earning women
Quick, put your daughter on the stage! The Forbes list of rich actresses is out again, and the money a talented girl could make on the big screen is frankly staggering. So whoare the owners of Hollywood's biggest paychecks?
Top of the list is Angelina Jolie, who took home $27 million in the last year - some of it for 'Changeling', but most from 'Wanted'.
In second place is Jennifer Aniston, who netted an amazing $25 million for some fairly dire romantic comedies.
Much of the press coverage of this has centered on Jen losing out to her arch love rival, but personally I think Jen is the winner. She didn't have to break a sweat for these films. There wasn't anything particularly stretching required from her - and she still came close to the paycheck Ange got for going through the emotional wringer.
My other favourite name in the list is Meryl Streep at number three, who made $24 million, defying the Hollywood rule that over the age of 40 women are on the scrap heap.
The rest of the top ten is made up of
Sarah Jessica Parker - $23 million
Cameron Diaz - $20 million
Sandra Bullock - $15 million (tie)
Reese Witherspoon - $15 million (tie)
Nicole Kidman - $12 million
Drew Barrymore - $12 million
Renee Zellweger - $10 million
So if you know a little girl with a hankering for drama (and let's face it which little girls don't know how to generate drama?) then maybe it's time to get her along to acting classes.
Of course she's far more likely to either give up, or end up chasing roles and living on a shoe-string. But these odds didn't stop Ange or Jen's mums (who themselves were actresses so knew how tough the business is), and look at them now.
