WalletPop: How much is too much for dinner?
Filed under: Economiser, WalletPoll, Food and Drink
I've found myself reading about a lot of Michelin starred restaurants recently. By contrast, last week I noticed that Heston Blumenthal's Little Chef Makeover had wound up in the Good Food Guide and I'm curious now about just how these fancy eateries are doing in the recession. Are you going to fancy restaurants, or are you being a bit wiser with your pennies?
There are so many good value restaurants around (and those set menus and vouchers certainly help) that you don't have to spend a fortune when you go out for dinner.
I'm just not sure if the food top end stuff is worth it at the moment. Sure, it's all very very tasty, but wouldn't you rather get a bit more for your many and be able to order what you want instead of having to order the cheapest thing on the menu for fear of bankrupting yourself. It's not much fun going out for dinner if you're constantly worrying about the bill at the end.
That's not to say the food in fancy restaurants isn't good, but in my experience, it's as hit and miss as anywhere else. I'd much rather have a hit and miss experience with £50 than £250. But maybe that's just me. What about you guys? Tell us in the poll how much you're willing to pay for dinner out at the moment. have your eating out habits changed?
