The best websites for selling secondhand stuff

Filed under: Economiser, Budgeting & Planning

Short of money? Don't panic. Have a look through your wardrobe, garage, basement or attic for anything you don't really need and are happy to flog.

Here's how to turn your clutter into hard cash... a roundup of the best websites for selling secondhand books, wedding dresses, clothes and other stuff.

Gumtree is a popular site which lets you advertise anything from cars to property and other stuff for sale for free.

Preloved is another good site where you can sell your unwanted clutter for free. You can list items with a photo in over 500 categories.

Try List Books to offload any unwanted books without paying a commission to list or sell them. It has a wide range of categories in both fiction and non-fiction, and has a Top Rated Books section. Prices start at £0.75 plus postage.

For academic books, go to Sell Student Books (it also sells novels).

Unless you're too attached your wedding dress, you can turn it into cash (along with any bridesmaid gowns) on this site.

If you're clearing out your wardrobe, try the Clothes Agency where you can sell any clothes and shoes for free wherever you are in the world. Or go to Vivastreet for clothes and accessories, also free.

And there is always Ebay, of course, but unlike the other sites it charges fees for listing and selling.
