Yes, it's that time again. Welcome to my latest restaurant deals round-up - designed to help you munch your way through the recession with your finances intact.

The 2-for-1 deals and discounts have been drying up a little of late, but never fear - there are still several good offers around. Here are my top five...

Thrifty Britain

I've noticed a new phrase being bandied around a lot recently; 'thrift is the new bling'. My initial reaction was that not only did it sound ridiculous, it just wasn't true. I'm starting to change my mind now though and I think the phrase is referring more to a new state of mind than anything. Let me explain.

The recession seems to have quashed the traditional British behaviour when it comes to shopping and it's also led a lot of us to be much less concerned with our pride. And I don't mean either of those in a bad way. As a student, I never had any qualms about picking up pennies in the street, but once you become a full-time professional it's a bit more embarrassing.

Lastminute.com £5 theatre deals - tonight at 8.30pm

Filed under: Bargains, Entertainment, Savvy Shopper, Cheap Treats, Freebies and Bargains

Lastminute.com have done it again. Their 'When It's Gone It's Gone' sales are fantastic. Last time they did one of these, I managed to bag myself a swanky hotel room in Central London for a tenner so they're worth keeping an eye on.

This time, it's theatre tickets, and if you're quick (and you really do have to be quick) then you can snap up a ticket for a fiver. The sale starts at 8:30 this evening and I'm pretty certain that by 8:40 they'll be gone. Things really do move that quickly.

So here are my tips for bagging a deal.

Filed under: Bargains, Savvy Shopper, Freebies and Bargains

Haggling has been the hit of the high street for a couple of months now, as we're increasingly willing to put our embarrassment aside and get stuck in. The experts have offered plenty of advice on how to do it, and top of the list has been to choose your target carefully, because not everyone will haggle. This was our advice here.

But a report out yesterday revealed one in ten people will try bargaining over any item they now buy nowadays.

So if you're willing to give it a go, we reveal the six secrets of how to haggle for absolutely anything.

Online voucher codes (also known as promotional codes, discount codes or e-vouchers) have seen a huge jump in popularity in the last couple of years.

There are now dozens of sites which pull together a range of online offers and money-off deals to help you save money while you're shopping online.

But how do exactly do these sites work? And which ones should you be keeping an eye on?...

Me versus the recession: The great cheap meds hunt

Filed under: Bargains, Economiser, Savvy Shopper, Me vs the Recession

I've been feeling a bit ropey this week.

I've had a nasty combination of the hayfever I always get at this time of year, plus a sprinkling of headaches, hot and cold flushes and and that twitching thing that happens to your eyelid. Urrgh.

Of course, my first thought was 'SWINE FLU!'. My second thought was that I haven't left south London in weeks, so I'm probably OK.

My third thought was 'I need drugs'. So off I went on the great cheap meds hunt...

Healthy living freebies from LA Fitness, Fitness First and Superdrug

There's nothing like a spot of good weather in the spring to remind you that very shortly you will be required to go out in public in a swimming costume.

Cue the vastly expensive efforts to undo all the damage of winter hibernation and comfort eating and get into shape in the next month or so.

Expensive, that is, unless you get your hands on some great healthy living freebies. Like these...

Madbid Penny Auctions - what's the catch?

Filed under: Bargains, Freebies and Bargains, Technology and Online

We all know about online auctions. Even my Dad is a fan, and he officially doesn't believe in the 21st century. So when new auction sites launch, they have to come up with something clever and new to catch your attention. And Madbid.com has managed just this.

Its new format means bidders have recently won £100 in Sainsbury's vouchers for 32p, £40 of scratchcards for 4p, and a brand new Sony PS3 for £3.46. It's not a reverse auction, it's something a bit different.

So, you're thinking, what's the catch?
