Pop Chart: Five top restaurant deals

Filed under: Economiser, Cheap Treats, Pop Chart, Freebies and Bargains, Food and Drink

Another week, another wave of restaurant deals hits the high street. Here's our round-up of the best offers and vouchers currently available in eateries near you.

Just bear in mind that most of these deals only last until the beginning of December. As Christmas approaches, the good offers are likely to become thinner on the ground.

Christmas parties and festive socialising will push many people into restaurants anyway, and the incentives used to draw in unwilling punters may begin to dry up.

So - stay one step ahead of the crowd and take advantage of these offers before they disappear!...

For a long time, the 'half-price restaurant deal boom' has been pretty much the only good thing about the recession. I can't remember the last time I visited a restaurant that didn't offer me a 2 for 1 deal on main courses.

However, over the last couple of weeks there has been much talk of the recession finally coming to an end. So does this mean the restaurant deals are drying up too?

Here are four of the best restaurant offers currently out there. Make the most of them asap, as they won't be around forever!...

Holiday like Rio Ferdinand for less than £100

Filed under: Economiser, Travel, Cheap Treats, Weird and Wonderful, Families

If you thought camping and caravanning holidays were for geeks and poor people, think again.

The current 'staycationing' craze is set to get a whole lot bigger - especially now that Man United and England star Rio Ferdinand has been spotted taking a VERY budget break!

A thigh injury means Ferdinand has been unable to join his England team mates for recent matches and training. And he's taken the chance to go on holiday with the wife and kids, instead.

So where did he take the family? The Bahamas? Or the Maldives, perhaps? Nope - he headed for a Haven caravan park in the tiny Welsh seaside town of Prestatyn...

Restaurant deals to make your mouth water

Filed under: Economiser, Cheap Treats, Freebies and Bargains, Food and Drink

Another week, another wave of great restaurant deals to keep your evenings out nice and cheap.

However, I'm not sure how long the fabulous '2 for 1 deal' is going to last.

Eateries must have heard about these 'green shoots of recovery' everyone's talking about. Several '2 for 1s' have turned into 'buy one, get another for £1'. Not quite such great value, but still better than paying full price.

The good news is, there are still some top money-saving deals out there. You just have to act fast and bag one before they disappear!...

The secret of great value skincare

I've already mentioned on here that I don't believe in expensive moisturiser, and that I think it's bonkers to spend an arm and a leg on something that's never going to do you as much good as drinking plenty of water and avoiding overdoing the sun.

And now Which? Has weighed in on my side.

How to save £215 overnight on beauty treatments

I read recently about a miracle cream that can roll back the years, and is a snip at £215. Apparently the 3Lab Super 'h' Serum is used by celebs like Helen Mirren and Jennifer Lopez (who surely can't have that many years to roll back).

It has a fairly impressive 'science bit' because it uses a growth hormone to plump up your skin.

Now I'm not doing this 'miracle' down. I'm sure it does what it says on the tin, but £215 seems a bit much to be spending on something you slap on every day.

So what are the alternatives?

Take a day off from pester power this summer

Pester power is relentless. Even parents with the most tight-fisted grip on the family purse strings may well give way under the strain of 24 hour pressure - which explains why so many kids end the summer holidays with a day at a theme park under their belt, and a Sky subscription to their credit.

However, next week, there's a chance to take a day off - for free.

Cheryl Cole's £100,000-a-year beauty habit

Filed under: Economiser, Cheap Treats, Fashion

Can you imagine what 100 grand on beauty products looks like? Cheryl Cole's face provides an authentic answer, as it has been reported that this is the amount that the former singer and WAG spends on cosmetics in a year. That's an awful lot of fake tan and mascara...

To many, the news comes as a bittersweet reminder that with enough money to burn, most of us could scrub up pretty well. But the fact remains that most of us don't have £100,000 to spend on anything, let alone cosmetics, so a bit of cheating is required.

Thankfully, the beauty industry often cheats as well, so it's quite possible to play it at its own game and look fantastic without falling for every fad going. As a self-confessed beauty junkie, I've had a fair bit of experience scouting out the cheap products that really do work and identifying the pricier ones it's worth splashing out on.
