The ISA season is set to turn green - with research from the Co-op revealing 13% of investors are likely to pick something ethical or sustainable with their ISA allowance. It seems that sustainable investments are no longer just for the principled. Ethical investment has grown steadily during the past decade by almost two and a half times, increasing from £2.8 billion to £6.8 billion.
The Co-op says that sustainable investment is no longer a niche for ethically-minded consumers and is becoming more mainstream. You don't just feel good about yourself - ethical funds often deliver good investment returns.

The perfect savings plan - larder, fridge, freezer

For most people the idea of saving anything is enough to raise a wry smile. How are we supposed to be able to afford to put anything away when we are struggling with unemployment in the family, or pay freezes, and rising costs? But however short of cash you are right now, there's a very good chance that at some point in the future you're going to hit an even rougher patch, and if you don't have any cash to fall back on, it could sink you.
There is always a way to cut back just a little on expenses, whether it's walking instead of taking the bus, or drinking tea rather than fizzy drinks. It may seem like penny pinching, but that's the whole point. Pinch less than £1 a day from your budget and after a year you could be sitting on savings of £350 or more.
Once you have the money, there's the whole question of what to do with it, but I was speaking to a bloke from HSBC the other week, and he told me of a great way to make things simple.

We're all guilty of it - thinking we'll get organised and give our finances an overhaul - and then putting it of for as long as humanly possible.
It's easy to get bills and leave them unopened and ominous - I do it all the time. I genuinely knuckled down yesterday though, opened all my bills and my bank statements and had a good sort out of my accounts. Nothing was as bad as I thought, and I honestly can't tell you what a relief it is to have done it - it's a weight off my mind.
So, if you're going to brave spring cleaning your finances, here's a bit of help to make it just that bit easier.

Comic fetches record price. Is your collection worth anything?
Filed under: Investing, Weird and Wonderful
A copy of the first comic starring Superman reached a record price at auction yesterday. The £650,000 price tag smashed a record set last year - by another copy of the same issue. It goes to show that all those years when your parents were nagging you to stop wasting your money and your spare time on silly stories, you were right to continue to plough your pocket money into the continued adventures of Batman or Denis the Menace, or whoever took your fancy.
This record price is already under pressure, as later this week a Batman comic, the first story to feature him, goes under the hammer and has already attracted a bid of over £300,000.
So is it time to revisit your old comic collection? Could it be worth a small fortune?

Don't you just love a general election? Despite all the talk on crime, the NHS, housing and all our social ills, when push comes to shove the major parties abandon all their airy-fairy policies and turn to that guaranteed vote-winner – bribery. So the Conservatives have announced that as a reward for using our money to bail out the banks – particularly Northern Rock, Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds – we'll all have the chance to buy shares in these businesses.
Voters – let's be straight, that's how they're thinking of us – will be able to buy shares worth between a few hundred pounds and a few thousand pounds at discount prices. Whoopee!
