WalletPoll: What do you hit first in the January sales?
Filed under: Savvy Shopper, WalletPoll, Christmas
I know, I know, I shouldn't really be thinking about the sales when I haven't even opened my presents yet, but I got my first invitation to an 'exclusive' sale today, and it got me thinking. How do we approach the sales?
What do you go for? Are you keen to start snapping up the bargain shoes, or are you looking for more practical buys?
There's so much to choose from and with the crowds it's impossible to know where to start. So most of us just follow our instincts and head to our favourite shops. I always kick off with Oasis (and can be found snapping up online bargains first thing on Boxing Day). But what's the first thing you snap up when the sales start? Tell us in the poll!
WalletPoll: Have you overspent for Christmas?
This year, due to circumstances beyond my control, I haven't been able to buy many Christmas presents this year. I've bought presents for my family, but that's about it. Everyone else is getting treated to dinner when I'm a little more flush, or maybe I'll bake some yummy Christmas cake.
It's not ideal, but not spending a lot of money isn't an option right now. So I've actually managed to do my Christmas shopping for about £50 this year! Hopefully my family will like their presents and I won't end up eating baked means all January. So tell me in the poll, have you spent more or less than you planned this Christmas?
WalletPoll: Who do you spend the most money on at Christmas?
Have you done your Christmas shopping yet? I've bought two presents, for my parents (they've got the same thing so that was easy). I spend more on my parents than I do on anyone else. I'm single, and haven't got kids, so I don't have to worry about anyone outside of friends and immediate family. My friends and I tend to do secret Santa, or buy little things for each other.
So who is it you spend more of your present budget on? Tell us in the poll over the jump!

WalletPoll: How are you donating to charity?
I was bidding on dresses on eBay last week and then the little charity tick box popped up at the checkout. Did i want to give £1 to charity? Yes, of course I did. It's only a pound, and I was poised to put my bank details in anyway. It's the easiest way to give money to charity and we don't even notice we're doing it. Even my online takeaway service does this! You can also use a service called Good.ly to shorten links and turn them into charity money spinners. The way we're donating money to charity is changing, so which way do you choose?
WalletPoll: Are you ditching Royal Mail during the strike?
A ballot this week showed that Royal Mail workers want to take their strike national - meaning that the whole postal service across the country could come to a grinding halt. And there's nothing that can be done about it. But with so many businesses relying on the service to supply to their customers, it's going to have a huge knock on effect. So this brings us to the latest poll. Are you using another postal service? Are you paying a courier? Or are you just not posting things at the moment until everything has died down? Tell us in the poll what you're doing about your post. And don't forget to tell us in the comments how you feel about the strike going national.

WalletPoll: Do you buy your groceries online?
Filed under: WalletPoll, Food and Drink
I use the internet for everything. I'm attached to it all day (don't laugh I'm a professional blogger!) If the internet doesn't work for some reason, I get a bit angry - even if it comes back online in five minutes. But despite the amount of time I spend online, I'd still never think of doing my grocery shopping online.WalletPoll: When do you start buying your Christmas presents?
I know I should be more organised about Christmas, but honestly do people really start buying their presents in September? Doesn't that take all of the fun out of Christmas? I'm pretty sure if I got all Christmassy now, by the time the lords wear a leaping and geese were laying, I'd be sick of Santa and mince pies.Asda recently did a survey claiming the present-buying season was upon us, but I don't believe that for a second. You don't actually start buying your presents now, do you? Tell us in the poll over the jump.
WalletPoll: Do you fib about your spending habits?
Filed under: Savvy Shopper, WalletPoll, Fashion
According to a recent poll, men tell more lies in their lifetime than women. And that might be true in some instances ("nothing's wrong, I'm fine!" "Of course you haven't put on weight"). But, no man I ever know has told a fib about how much something cost. Yet I'm pretty sure most women have. Because sometimes, it's just easier than admitting that you've spent half a month's rent on a new handbag, isn't it?Wallet Poll: What's your biggest money bugbear?
Everyone gets annoyed with money issues. There's always things that bug you more than something else. I don't mind paying for travel, but I do hate paying booking fees and extras for no reason. Some people aren't so bothered by bank charges, but they hate parking tickets. It depends on what affects us personally. But which is your biggest money bugbear? Tell us in the poll over the jump!
WalletPop: How much is too much for dinner?
Filed under: Economiser, WalletPoll, Food and Drink
I've found myself reading about a lot of Michelin starred restaurants recently. By contrast, last week I noticed that Heston Blumenthal's Little Chef Makeover had wound up in the Good Food Guide and I'm curious now about just how these fancy eateries are doing in the recession. Are you going to fancy restaurants, or are you being a bit wiser with your pennies?
