London bosses at US bank Morgan Stanley were red-faced again this week, after firing one of their traders who took a three-and-a-half hour lunch, came back drunk and spent the rest of the afternoon gambling away their money. A fine mess, Stanley

US finance giant Morgan Stanley has been fined an £1.4 million by the Financial Services Authority for failing to properly supervise a London-based rogue trader who lost the company around £60 million.

The trader, Matthew Piper, 36, admitted his wrongdoing last April, and was fined £105,000. He was also banned from working in the City for life. While the fines are significant, in reality Morgan Stanley will soon recover that, but it's the message from the FSA and the laying of blame that will be super embarrassing.
