Beat the winter blues and escape on a quick city break. If you can put up with the cold and wet weather, there are some good deals to be had in the UK. Otherwise look further afield for some much needed vitamin D.Here is a round-up of city breaks and weekend getaways that won't break the bank.

Rooms at a Venice Hotel were mistakenly given away for €0.01 a night last year after human error meant the massively discounted rate appeared on travel websites. Bosses at the Crown Plaza Venice East Quarto D'Altino were forced to honour the bookings at the hotel where rooms normally cost between £90 and £150 a night.
