Hot shots top yachts defy the gloom

Shocking news about next month's Cannes Film Festival emerged today. The parties are going to be less lavish, the most exclusive hotels still have rooms to spare, and yacht bookings are down.

This is just plain wrong.

Cannes is supposed to provide an injection of glamour into our lives. We have plenty of credit crunch misery at home thank you very much. We don't need the rich and famous cutting back. We need to see them living it up, waltzing down red carpets, and sailing into the sunset on multi-million dollar boats.

Fortunately there are still some people out there who are doing their bit to bring a little yachting glitz into our lives, so Walletpop presents a handful of the most dramatically over-the-top yachts.

Forbes Rich List 2009

Every year, Forbes release their rich list -- the wealthiest who's who in the business world. This year, just like the rest of us, the world's richest got poorer. And some counted their losses in the billions. With that much cash, it's hard to feel bad, but even when you're that wealthy, it still has to hurt.
